Employment Details: Full time (40-60 hrs/week depending on season and weather), seasonal employment, paid at an hourly rate of $8.50. A typical work day usually starts at 7 AM and ends at 4 PM with a 45 minute unpaid lunch break. The work week is either Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday. Interns alternate covering Wed evening and Saturday markets. They also rotate animal responsibilities. It is a challenging but fun work environment where you’ll have the opportunity to work with a small group a people who share a passion for farming and good food. At least once a month during the season we take the time to communally enjoy the harvest with a staff potluck.
Qualifications: Applicants must have the desire and ability to work hard in what is often a stressful and fast-paced environment. They must be responsible and reliable, have the ability to ask questions, follow directions, be self motivated, and enjoy working both alone and with others. Strong communication skills and orientation toward detail are needed assets. Previous farming experience is helpful but not required. Applicants must be in good physical condition and able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis. Most of the farming is done by hand so the work requires strong hands, wrists, back and knees, as well as a good sense of humor. We’re looking for people who love good food and want to learn how to grow it.
