2010 Community Supported Agriculture Program

The Venetucci Farm is excited to be able to offer you the opportunity to become a member for the 2010 growing season. As you know, joining a CSA is a great way to get to know your local farmer, in addition to getting fresh, nutritious, organically grown produce.

As a member of the Venetucci Farm CSA you have the additional benefit of supporting a great community resource. Established by the Venetucci family in 1936 and well-known in the community as the “pumpkin farm”, the 190 acre urban farm is now owned and operated by the Pikes Peak Community Foundation.  While we continue the annual Pumpkin 4Kids give-away initiated by Nick and Bambi Venetucci many years ago, we have expanded the educational programs to include school field trips, service learning, and summer camps. It’s a great place for kids and adults alike to spend time getting re-connected with the source of their food.

Two CSA Options for 2010

We have decided to offer two CSA options next season, a CSA Standard Option (55 shares offered at this level) and a CSA Choice Option (20 shares offered at this level).   Please review a more detailed description of the options and complete the appropriate registration form: CSA Standard Option or CSA Choice Option.

One of the most frequent comments we receive about the CSA is the lack of choice.  After reading about a CSA in Oklahoma that offers choice through a credit system, we have decided to experiment with this model on a limited basis. A CSA Choice option will be offered at $700 and will allow you to spend your credit on produce of your choice at a 10% discount at any of our three market booths. You can also use your credit towards the purchase of Venetucci beef and pork. Please note that we are only offering 20 Choice Shares on a first come first serve basis. The other 55 shares will be the same as last year and offered at the $520 level. If you are considering the Choice option, please keep in mind that in order to get the best selection you need to be able to arrive at the markets early.
