Pikes Peak Urban Gardens (PPUG)

Pikes Peak Urban Gardens, a non-profit organization, was formed in the winter of 2008 in response to a need in the Pikes Peak region.  At that time, Denver had more than 70 community gardens.  In 2007, as far as we knew, there were only three community gardens in the Colorado Springs area: Bear Creek Community gardens on the west side of town, Old Farm Community Gardens on the east side and perhaps one other.  We are now seeing record numbers of people interested in growing their own food.

Mission: “Cultivating community through organic gardening and sustainable urban farm projects in the Pikes Peak region”.

In the past two seasons, PPUG has helped establish six community gardens: one large demonstration garden, two micro-farmers markets, and two urban farms.  PPUG has also offered numerous educational outreach programs to schools and community groups.
