El Paso County Bar Foundation

The El Paso County Bar Foundation was established in March 2002 as the charitable arm of the El Paso County Bar Association. The Foundation works to assist in improving the delivery of legal services; promoting education, knowledge and awareness of the law; improving the administration of justice; providing legal services to the disadvantaged; providing assistance to the aged, infirm or otherwise incapacitated lawyers or their families. The Foundation, in partnership with the Joseph Henry Edmondson Foundation, the Coulter Foundation and the El Pomar Foundation, has established a law student scholarship program to support students who have expressed a desire to practice law in El Paso County after graduation. The Ruth Rouss Scholarship program provides scholarships for women and the Ben Wendelken Scholarship program for men at both the University of Denver and University of Colorado law schools. The Foundation has been accomplishing its mission through the award of grants to non-profit organizations. The Foundation has awarded grants to: Teen Court, Mock Trial Competition, Theatreworks for the production of To Kill a Mockingbird, Legal Aid Foundation, the Diversity Committee of the Bar Association, Cynergetics Institute for a community restorative justice program, Court Care. The Foundation will continue to partner with other organizations to support worthy charitable causes.
