Focus: Peak Arts Prize

In 2018 and 2019, Fund for the Arts will be utilized to launch Peak Arts Prize, a dynamic new program from the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region. Peak Arts Prize’s goals are to “Support Great Art,” “Inspire Fresh Ideas,” and “Grow Audiences.”

Fund for the Arts

  • Fund for the Arts was created in 2005 as a collaborative approach to raise more dollars for arts organizations in the Pikes Peak region. Many individuals have contributed to the fund as well as the estate of Edith E. Ellyas.
  • In 2018 and 2019, the focus of this funding will be awarded through the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region.

Guidelines and Timeline

  • Deadline: February 15, 2018
  • Funding Levels: $7,500, $5,000 or $2,500 – by category
  • Arts-based nonprofits, galleries and individual artists are invited to apply
  • Funding is awarded through the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region

Submit Your Video Application

Applications are invited in three categories: Large Organizations (annual budget over $100,000), Small Organizations (annual budget under $100,000), and Individual Artists. Applications will be accepted January 15 – February 15 via the online entry form at

Describe your project in a video of less than 5 minutes. Smart phone videos are welcome! Videos will be judged on content, not production quality, but get creative and capture your personal best!

Eligibility to Apply

Here is an overview of eligibility guidelines. Visit to learn more.

  • Applicants must be arts-focused nonprofits or for-profits (like galleries, art schools, or dance studios), or individual artists age 18 and over. Arts & culture must be the primary focus of the applying organization – restaurants, general education schools, community centers, etc. that have other goals but include some arts programming are not eligible. Eligibility in terms of arts & cultural focus will ultimately be at the discretion of the Cultural Office. To verify or ask questions about your eligibility, please contact Angela Seals at
  • Applicants must be based in El Paso or Teller counties of Colorado, proposing grant activities that will serve audiences in those counties.
  • Applicants must be registered with an up-to-date profile in the free Organizations Directory or Artists Directory. For technical support with updating or creating a profile, email Alyssa, or call the Peak Radar Helpline at 719-634-5155
  • We are looking for proposed project ideas that are fresh, artistically strong, and reach new audiences. They will take a variety forms, but we expect most to be artistic programs or promotional initiatives. Keep in mind that artistic excellence is important even if your project is a promotional initiative.
  • Project activities must occur in the 2018 calendar year.
