The Pikes Peak Community Foundation (PPCF) [https://www.ppcf.org] is a 501(c)(3) public charity which traces its founding to 1928. Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado and serving the Pikes Peak Region, its mission is to inspire a passionate community to forge an enduring legacy now and for future generations. Accomplishment of our mission makes our vision of a thriving, resilient, sustainable Pikes Peak Region with a vibrant quality of life for all come to fruition. With more than $92 million in assets under management, we are building for the future of the region. PPCF has just announced the planned retirement of our current CEO and is seeking its next CEO to take us into the next chapter and help us complete our ambitious strategic plan goals.
PPCF is a mighty team of 8 governed by a Board of Directors that includes 17 dedicated community advocates. The CEO of PPCF is a key civic leader in the region.
The CEO serves as PPCF’s principal executive leader, accountable for advancing long-term strategies, ensuring financial sustainability through comprehensive asset development initiatives, building community partnerships and overseeing operational stability.
This role requires a bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred. The ideal candidate is a seasoned executive with a strong commitment to community and a demonstrated track record of surpassing asset development goals through sophisticated giving strategies.
The annual salary range for this position is $175,000-$225,000.

Job Description: Chief Executive Officer
JOB TITLE: Chief Executive Officer
REPORTS TO: Board of Trustees
FLSA STATUS: FULL TIME, EXEMPT, WITH BENEFITS
Summary of Position
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the strategic and operational leader of Pikes Peak Community Foundation ("PPCF”). The CEO is responsible for accomplishing the Foundation’s mission through execution of the Board-approved Strategic Plan. This includes all aspects of organizational performance including raising funds and stewardship, ensuring financial stability, strategy, donor relations, partnership-building, marketing, communications, financial integrity, risk management, staff leadership and development.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
• Develop and execute PPCF’s strategic goals in partnership with the Board.
• Provide visionary, collaborative leadership aligned with community needs and PPCF’s mission.
• Guide the organization through periods of change, innovation, and growth.
Asset Development and Donor Relations
• Serve as the head of asset development through individual, corporate and foundation giving and partnerships with professional advisors’ network.
• Ensure gift stewardship in partnership with donors and advisors.
• Leverage the work of Our Spacious Skies to add further dimension to fundraising efforts.
Organizational Management
• Oversee all aspects of PPCF’s operations, including programs, staff team, finance, marketing, communications, and compliance.
• Appetite for continuous improvement, including regular exploration of the use of emerging technologiesy to improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
• Stay abreast of regulatory, legislative and financial changes that affect community foundations, fundraising and taxation.
Board Relations & Governance
• Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Trustees.
• Educate, organize, and report regularly to the Board.
• Assist the Board in identifying and recruiting new board candidates, provide ongoing training, and ensure board members remain engaged, informed, and are advancing the PPCF’s mission.
Elevate the PPCF Brand with all Community Stakeholders, Build & Maintain Strong Community Partnerships
• Publicly represent PPCF in the community.
• Build and maintain relationships with donors, nonprofits, civic leaders, and other stakeholders.
• Seek out and respond to opportunities to enhance PPCF’s visibility and reputation.
Financial Oversight and Risk Management
• Develop and manage operational budgets and financial performance.
• Oversee and actively participate in fundraising and asset development efforts.
• Ensure financial stability, sustainability, transparency, and compliance with all statutory and accounting regulations.
• Forsee and manage risk to the organization and develop plans for mitigating risk.
Programmatic Leadership
• Grow grantmaking and programmatic initiatives to maximize community impact.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated passion for the community we serve and the mission, vision and strategic goals of PPCF.
• Organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
• Interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members, external partners, and donors.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
• Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Required
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in philanthropy, community development, nonprofit management, and/or related fields.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and public speaking skills.
• Experience with financial and investment oversight and organizational operations.
Preferred
• Experience working with complex philanthropy and tax planning (income and estate) including non-cash gifts, charitable trusts, and bequests.
• Knowledge and experience with community foundations and/or proven history building rapport with a community of similar size.
• Proven track record in asset development.
• Knowledge of asset and investment management.
